Reverse PPDA

What it is

PPDA re-applied from the perspective of the team in possession — how the opponent's press is baited, drawn in, and then broken. It reframes a defensive-pressure metric as a measure of how effectively a build-up lures pressure before releasing through it. Still needs supporting use-cases and literature.

Read the same pressures-per-forced-turnover column (see PPDA) from the other row of each fixture — how hard the opponent hunted us, and how little it got them. Reframed this way, the quartiles run 7.5% → 35.3% → 42.3% → 69.2%: the less efficiently an opponent pressed us, the more we won. It is the mathematical mirror of the report's own pressing-efficiency figure, not an independent test, but it does operationalise this KPI's idea with real numbers. Read the full report →
